Definition of Civil Engineering
Civil Engineering is the basic branch of engineering that combines materials and techniques in the best way and deals with the planning, project, construction and supervision of structures. It can also be defined as the branch of engineering that projects and implements the cornerstones of civilization.
Civil Engineering Undergraduate Program
The undergraduate program of the Department of Civil Engineering is a 4-year program consisting of 8 semesters, each of which is worth 30 ECTS and equal to a total of 240 ECTS. The compulsory courses offered in the department are grouped as basic science, engineering and field courses. Support courses such as economics, foreign language, computer which are necessary for the acquisition of civil engineering equipment are also included in the program. In addition to the compulsory courses, there are technical and non-technical elective courses in the program. Every year, our students benefit from student exchange programs in Europe within the framework of the “Socrates-Erasmus” program and in different universities in Turkey within the framework of the Farabi program.
Civil Engineering Job Areas
Program graduates work as civil engineers in all public-private institutions and organizations. Apart from this, they can establish their own businesses as individual entrepreneurs as well as provide engineering consultancy and contracting services.

The mission of Gaziosmanpaşa University Civil Engineering Department is to be a department that educates engineers who can design, analyze and apply civil engineering systems, evaluate and interpret the results, take responsibility, respect professional and ethical values, have environmental awareness, adopt lifelong learning, sharing knowledge and research as a principle, integrate with industry, and produce knowledge for the benefit of society in line with the needs of our country and humanity with the synthesis of mathematics, science and engineering knowledge.

The vision of Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University Civil Engineering Department is to be a department that aims to transform science and technology for the benefit of our country and humanity, to train Civil Engineers who know how to think, learn, research and question, who can compete in the international arena, who are equipped with modern knowledge, who have national and universal culture and leadership qualities, who can conduct high-level research and contribute to science.
